This year is our 6th edition of Cranksgiving Bournemouth, with everything going on at the moment, we feel it is more important than ever to support those who need it. We've devised a way in which we can help people through Cranksgiving, while remaining safe and within government guidelines. This year we will be collecting items for local charity Hope for Food.

Cranksgiving Bournemouth 2020 will consist of three parts:

  • Take Part Week - from the 26th of November to the 4th of December we will have a collection list available online for all of the locations and items as part of Cranksgiving 2020. The goal is to collect all of the items on the list at any time over the week, and drop them at Velo Domestique. Everyone who successfully completes the list will be entered into a raffle prize draw.

  • Take Part Time Trial Week - As above, however, riders must take a photo of themselves outside Velo Domestique before they start, displaying the time, then again with the receipts for the collected items once they have completed the list. Photos must be uploaded to Facebook or Instagram (grid post only) tagging Velo Domestique in the post. The top three times will recieve prizes and there will be a bonus prize for fastest female.

  • Cranksgiving Night (December 4th) - Assuming the government guidelines from the 2nd of December allow groups of cyclists (likely up to 6) we will hold an entirely outdoor edition of Cranksgiving. This will have a different collection list to the Take Part Week. Further details will be announced on the 3rd, when guidelines are published.

Riders can participate in all three parts of Cranksgiving this year; all ages and abilities are welcome. We ask that when taking part, you adhere to current Covid guidelines, including cycling specific ones laid out here by British Cycling. Most notably you must ride in groups of no more than two if you are from separate households.

As always, Cranksgiving is about doing good for others in the community whilst getting outside and enjoying cycling.

Check out the Facebook event which will provide further details of all three parts here. If you don't have Facebook, further details will be uploaded to this blog post on November 26th.

Entry to all three sections are entirely free, but you do have to purchase your own items. The total cost of these items will be around £5.

Items will be basic essentials that will be donated to Hope for Food, a local charity dedicated to supporting people who need help throughout the year.

We recommend all riders participating wear a helmet, hi-vis clothing if possible and use a lock when leaving their bikes outside shops.
