Velo Domestique & community events.

Our focus has always been on community, bringing people together through a mutual passion; cycling, food, music and adventure. Since opening in 2016, we have organised group rides, pop-up food and music events, birthday parties, charity cycles and bicycle jumbles. Here are some of the most regular events we'd love you to get involved with.

TAM - Thai food pop-up supper club: Saturday, 2nd November 2024

Tam is a new Thai supper club offering dishes from all four regions of Thailand, respecting their origins. Beyond typical offerings, Thai cuisine is diverse, with flavors that are simple, complex, spicy, and delicious.

Hosted by our friend Nick, a westerner inspired by Thai food, Tam aims to share unique dishes not commonly found in England. There will be a set menu of 5 family-style dishes, mainly from central and northern Thailand.

Note: dishes contain fish, shellfish, pork, and peanuts, and are not suitable for vegetarians or vegans.

Follow them on Instagram @tam.thaifood for updates.

Latin Tacover - Saturday, 9th November 2024

Freshly made tacos, served on locally made cornflour (gluten-free) tortillas, Latin and salsa vinyl being spun by our friend DJ Max Ray, craft beer and delicious cocktails. Our pop up Latin Tacover event takes place roughly once a month, is free to attend and always has vegan and vegetarian options.

Bicycle jumbles - Saturday, 16th Novmber 2024

We organise a series of bicycle jumbles throughout the year. So you can enjoy an evening of parts box digging, bicycle bargains, craft beer, and good vibes!

Grab a seller table for just £5, or make a £2 entry donation to hunt down those bicycle parts and second-hand bikes at unbeatable prices.

Velo Domestique - Cranksgiving

Cranksgiving - Friday, 29th November 2024

Cranksgiving is an annual charity cycle in which riders must collect food items from a list of specific shops as quickly as they can. After the ride, all collected food will be donated to local charity Hope for Food.

This event is free for everyone to enter and open to all abilities; riders must purchase their own food items on the list, which will cost around £5.

Post ride beers at Velo Domestique.

The New Forest Off Road Club

The New Forest Off Road Club is a woman and non-binary-led community dedicated to building confidence and community on a bicycle. They aim to increase outdoor representation by providing guided, matriarchal experiences. We love supporting this community; all we want is for more people to get out on their bikes and go cycling. And this community perfectly fosters this inclusive and fun approach.

New Forest Gridiron

The Gridiron is a cycling event that each rider can make their own - it is not a ride entirely focused on speed.

Join us on the New Forest Gridiron, an autumnal adventure through the vast expanse of the New Forest, winding along undiscovered lanes and through luscious wooded canopies.

Visit the Gridiron website to book your place.

Wednesday Night Group Rides

These rides have been around longer than our cafe itself; it was the family forged through these first rides almost a decade ago that led to the creation of Velo Domestique. We meet at 7 pm every Wednesday (unless it's raining sideways) outside Velo Domestique in Southbourne. Our rides are usually between 10 and 15 miles and take about an hour. Unless stated otherwise, all rides are on-road, and new riders and beginners are always welcome.

Every Wednesday, 7 pm - Velo Domestique.

Our Caravan

In 2019, we kitted out a retro German caravan to be a Mobile Catering Unit, allowing us to take Velo Domestique on the road. You will find us every year at Brother in the Wild, We Out Here Festival, and End Of The Road Festival in Dorset. We have capabilities to serve you fresh food, speciality coffee, craft beer, cocktails and wine. If you'd like to book us for your event, please contact us here.

Bringing you incredible cocktails, craft beer and wine paired with some of our favourite DJs and Musicians. Past guests include Heir, Scott Lavene, Pylon Soundz. These are run as fortnightly series each series and free to enter.

Brother in the Wild

Since its first edition held back in 2016, we have had the pleasure of being heavily involved with Brother Cycles' event Brother in the Wild. This laidback bikepacking weekender has quickly grown into one of the UK's favourite events on the gravel calendar. Each year we organise a ride out, arrange the music and cater breakfast, coffee as well as vegan and veggie options all weekend. Currently, the event is held on the Isle of Purbeck, a gravel cycling and sea swimming paradise.

Pizza Run

If you love pizza and cycling, then this is the ride for you. What started as a monthly pilgrimage to visit our friend's Bakehouse 24 in Ringwood's pop-up sourdough pizza night has now evolved into one of our most popular monthly group rides. This super accessible road ride to Ringwood from Velo Domestique in Southbourne is a 20 mile round trip with a pizza stop in the middle. Pizza Run takes place on the last Thursday of every month; bring bike lights and cash for pizza and beer.
