Understanding the Larry vs Harry Bullitt cargo bike range: Which Bullitt is right for me?
Updated June 2024
We’ve been proudly stocking Bullitt bikes from Larry vs Harry since 2017, in that time we’ve seen their range develop and particularly their electrical options grow. As cargo bike specialists, the Velo Domestique team pride themselves on being able to find the right cargo solution for their customers.
We work directly with the Larry vs Harry team in Denmark, meaning when you order through us you’re getting the best possible price on a new imported Bullitt. Currently import times are around 2-3 weeks meaning you should be up and running within one month of placing your order with us. This timeline is for complete Bullitt and eBullitt options as well as framekits, accessories will take longer due to import value minimums.
With over ten years of perfecting their craft, it is no surprise that Larry vs Harry are world leaders in producing long john style two-wheeled cargo bikes. They are providing an ideal balance between ride quality, comfort, carrying capability and style. Larry vs Harry places their cargo bike, the Bullitt, in the middle of the pack when it comes to price, wanting to appeal to those looking for good value of quality components at a reasonable price point. Hydraulic brakes come as standard and futureproof frames allowing for a Gates carbon belt drive to be fitted later mean any Bullitt option is a quality investment. Electric Bullitt models
Motor Options: Shimano e6100 vs EP8
Shimano now has two main motor options; e6100 and EP8. Both options are available on your electric Bullitt. Both models use Di2 for seamless, low maintenance shifting, feature pedal assist, fitted mudguards and built in lights.
e6100 - The cheaper of the two, still with a very impressive 60Nm of torque. Gives you a range of around 80km in one charge. Hard wearing and more than capable for most journeys.
EP8 - This is the latest in Shimano electric motor innovation, with a massive 85Nm of torque, this allows your to make short work of big hills and transport heavy cargo without using up as much battery, giving you a longer range of up to 100km in a single charge. The EP8 motor is the quietest in the Shimano range.
e6100 Nexus 5 Speed Di2 (internal gear hub) - Resilient internal gear hub, this small but efficient 5 gear range is ideal for predominantly flat urban riding. This model has an automatic shifting mode available. This is the cheapest electric Bullitt option available.
£5000
e6100 Nexus 5 Speed Carbon Belt Di2 (internal gear hub) - Resilient internal gear hub with low maintenance Carbon Belt instead of a chain, this small but efficient 5 gear range is ideal for predominantly flat urban riding. This model has an automatic shifting mode available.
£5240
e6100 Alfine 11 Speed Carbon Belt Di2 (internal gear hub) - Hard wearing internal gear hub with a wide 11 gear range allowing for easier shifting when riding up hill. Equipped with a Carbon Belt, this set up requires very little maintenance. Alfine 11 does not allow for automatic shifting
£5240
e6100 XT 11 Speed Di2 - This is our preferred Bullitt drivetrain, more suited to confident cyclists able to manage their gear shifting as they approach junctions or slow down. Smooth, visible shifting with a very wide gear range means climbing hills is a breeze. This model does not have automatic shifting.
£5250
EP8 Nexus 5 Speed Di2 (internal gear hub) - Resilient internal gear hub, this small but efficient 5 gear range is ideal for predominantly flat urban riding. This model has an automatic shifting mode available.

Non-Electric ‘The Original Bullitt’ models
Deore 20 Speed - 2x10 entry-level Shimano MTB groupset, very capable of hill climbing and riding with heavy cargo. This is the cheapest complete Bullitt option.
£2990
XT 12 Speed - 1x12 top-end Shimano MTB groupset, hardwearing, lightweight and with a very wide range of gear ratios. This is one of the best equipped complete cargo bikes on the market.
£3800
Alfine 8 (internal gear hub) - Larry vs Harry have moved their entry-level gear hub up to Alfine 8 from Nexus 5; this is to give riders a more comprehensive range of gears and a harder wearing hub. Internal gears allow for static shifting, which is very helpful when riding in built-up areas of towns and cities. Internal gear hubs are also a fantastic option for less experienced riders on a cargo bike as they are less likely to cause damage to the drivetrain when riding under load.
£3020
Alfine 8 Gates belt drive (internal gear hub) - Larry vs Harry was one of the first cargo bike brands to introduce a carbon belt drive model to their complete range. The carbon belt drive is extremely low maintenance; not even chain lube is required. If you are looking for a bombproof drivetrain for hard use day in day out, this is the model for you. Unlike conventional metal chains, the carbon belt drive does not stretch and, as such, will last for 5 or 6 times as long.
£3270
Alfine 11 Gates belt drive (internal gear hub) - all the fantastic durability features of the above groupset but with the added bonus of having 11 speeds giving you more options over hilly terrain.
£3510
Due to their size and varying colour/drivetrain options, we do not currently hold stock of Bullitt bikes from Larry vs Harry. However, we do have an e6100 XT model that can be used for test rides. To arrange a test ride or inquire about your chosen model's availability, please email us here.
