Velo Domestique’s 4th Birthday
We are celebrating four years of being open in Southbourne. We couldn't be here without you, our fantastic customers who have supported us throughout our journey.
It has been an eventful year for us: our team has grown, we're now open seven days a week, we've taken our new catering caravan to some awesome events and guested some spectacular coffees from around the UK and Europe.
Sarah and the kitchen team have continued developing new dishes that have quickly become firm favourites, including our Turkish Eggs and the Cajun Burrito.
Mike Stone has been doing everything he can to keep you all rolling; we've serviced over 1,100 bikes in the past year.
We're eager to announce that this year we will be opening a sister cafe in Bournemouth, as part of The Avenue. We want to bring our relaxed, community-focused approach to serving coffee, food and bikes to Bournemouth town centre, coming March 2020.
This year we've continued our charity events. We collected over 65kg of food for Hope for Food at this year's Cranksgiving (limited edition charity tees still available) as well as raising money for them at Bike Jumble events throughout the year. We sponsored team Tag (including Dan) who participated in (and won) Cyclone 24, raising £2,100 for Velindre Cancer Centre and setting a new Welsh record for the 2nd year in a row.
For the 3rd consecutive year, we are running on 100% renewable energy and have continued efforts to reduce our impact on the environment. We're offering free filter coffee on weekdays throughout January to anyone who brings in their KeepCup or Huskee Cup. We've helped local companies like Bad Hand Coffee and Holy Cow improve their green credentials by supplying their new Bullitt eCargo bikes. We are increasing the efficient use of our own Bullitt Cargo bike by supporting Boscombe Community Fridge, transporting food from nearby supermarkets. We were also lucky enough to host a business edition of SOBO Wastebusters, an incredibly forward-thinking community initiative set up to help us all reduce waste.
Our evening events have grown in size with our two largest-ever Pizza Run groups riding to Bakehouse 24 in Ringwood. We hosted three very popular Latin Tacovers and two series of The Sticky Bottle, bringing quality music from artists such as Heir and Scott Lavene to Southbourne.
We took our new catering caravan to the ever-growing Brother in the Wild event with Brother Cycles, the Woods Grand Rando, Southbourne Revival, Wellbeing by the Lakes and to events at AECC and AUB. Catch us at more events throughout 2020.
We're incredibly grateful to be so well supported by our fantastic customers; every year we gain more fantastic regulars and our community of coffee-loving, bike riding, foodies grows. Here's to another year of drinking great coffee, eating breakfast burritos and cycling together.
