Presenting the new Cargo Blend: Roasted by Bad Hand Coffee, especially for our customers
We're stoked to introduce Cargo Blend to Velo Domestique. A unique coffee blend roasted by Bad Hand specifically for our customers. The new coffee blend complements smooth steamed milk in espresso-based drinks and is perfect as a tasty filter when brewed on the go.
We worked closely with the Bad Hand Coffee crew to create a coffee with notes of delicious toasted nuts and milk chocolate using a blend of Brazil, Guatemala and El Salvador. Find it in your flat whites as our house espresso, or grab a bag to enjoy at home. Cargo Blend is the latest step in our journey together in coffee with the Bad Hand family.

A coffee and bike collaboration born in Bournemouth in 2014
At the end summer of 2014, Dan met Joel for the first time in Bosconova. He was armed with a proposal to collaborate on bringing about Bournemouth's first Cycle Cafe along with the idea of introducing cargo bikes to the area by offering to deliver food and coffee from the Boscombe breakfast institution to their 2nd location South Coast Roast. By mid-October that year, the Velo Domestique pop-up cycle cafe, in collaboration with Boscanova, opened its doors with a celebratory alley cat and solidified their union.
Celebrating a friendship founded on coffee and bikes with the new ‘Cargo Blend’
Fast forward almost a decade, and we're celebrating the friendship based on brews and bikes with another iconic collab coffee 'Cargo Blend'. Boscanova's founders, now named Bad Hand Coffee, Dorset's stand-out roasters, have worked closely with us on our journey to bring you excellent coffee. Together we have created a versatile Omniroasted blend to give you delicious-tasting coffee at home or in our cafe.

Cargo isn’t our first Coffee Blend from the Band Hand Coffee experts
We've always been focused on quality and consistency, which is why, in our infancy, we decided to focus solely on filter and pour over coffee, allowing us to guarantee every mug we served at Velo Domestique was as tasty as the last. A vital foundation of this love of drinking and serving filter coffee was the guiding hand of the team at Bad Hand Coffee, whose hands also provided us with the infamous Whipskid Blend.
Whipskid made a full-bodied and fruity brew still etched into the tastebuds of all the original Velo Domestique team members. As we have grown, establishing ourselves as one of Bournemouth's top cafes for speciality coffee so has our offering. We've brought you coffee from some of the UK's best roasters, and now we're excited to bring you ‘Cargo Blend’ from closer to home.
Cargo bikes and coffee: a ‘hands-on’ effort to save the planet
Companies using cargo bikes in the UK are still considered pioneering; however, Bad Hand Coffee blazed the trail when we sold them our first-ever Omnium in 2016. Since then, Bad Hand has increased their coffee-carrying capabilities by investing in an electric Bullitt from us equipped with its custom big volume cargo cage.
Biodegradable retail bags, reusable coffee tubs, 'Planet Saving Coffee', cargo bike and electric van deliveries are some of the inspiring ways Bad Hand are working to minimise any negative impact their coffee has on the environment. We are proud to work with such a conscientious roaster to create this delicious coffee.
